Chinese-English Translations of Children’s Books Date: 4 June 2015 (Thu) Time: 4.30pm – 5.30pm Venue: National Library Building, L16 The Pod Speakers: Chang Tzu-chang 張子樟 & Teng Qian Xi 邓倩兮 As our world becomes more globalised, translation is of paramount importance for authors and illustrators to reach out to foreign markets across the world. Join Prof. Chang Tzu-chang, translator of Matilda by Roald Dahl, The Tiger Rising by Kate Dicamillo and Starry River of the Sky by Grace Lin, as he discusses the necessity of translations in children’s literature. Singaporean poet Teng Qian Xi will also share her experiences in translating children’s stories, and compare the differences between translating children’s fiction and poetry.
