The biennial Singapore Literature Prize takes place this July, culminating in an awards dinner on 6 August 2018. As part of Ethos Books' efforts to promote the award (and its shortlisted titles), they conducted a series of interviews with the various shortlisted writers and the cover designers of their corresponding books.

Kitaab is a literary website based in Singapore that seeks to be a space for news related to Asian writing in English. Some months ago I was interviewed by Desmond Kon Zhicheng-Mingdé for their Lounge Chair Interview series. I didn't exactly sit on a lounge chair for this interview, but it was fun answering the questions. Read about the interview here. In the Life edition of today's Straits Times: a comprehensive survey by Lee Jian Xuan on the current state of Singapore literature. Poet Loh Guan Liang, 31, says: "When you don't read what Singapore writers have to offer, what you create becomes a pale copy of Western voices. We need to do more to shift the collective agreement on what 'good' writing is, as 'good' is often synonymous with Western in Singapore." Now everyone knows my age.
