The biennial Singapore Literature Prize takes place this July, culminating in an awards dinner on 6 August 2018. As part of Ethos Books' efforts to promote the award (and its shortlisted titles), they conducted a series of interviews with the various shortlisted writers and the cover designers of their corresponding books. I had the pleasure of speaking to the passionate folks at Ethos Books about my shortlisted poetry collection Bitter Punch. You can tell when an interviewer knows your work and is genuinely interested in letting readers know more about you beyond the things you write. This interview is one such instance. Check out the interview here. Additionally, and this is where Ethos Books impresses with its emphasis on developing young talent and looking at a book as a sum of parts rather than merely an author's words in print, there's also an interview with Bitter Punch's cover designer Ahdini Izzatika. Ahdini gave a face—look at the cover and you'll know what I mean—to Bitter Punch. Read Ahdini's interview on her creative process and thoughts designing book covers here.
For the first time and in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the Singapore Book Council, the public is invited to attend the Singapore Literature Prize awards ceremony! Free registration here.
